Thiru Parthan Palli Divyadesam - Thamarayal Nayagi Samedha Thamarayal Kelwan - The Only Divyadesam hymned by Poigai Azhwar in addition to Thirumangai Azhwar. ( All the other 10 Thirunangur Divyadesams are praised only by Thirumangai Azhwar ). Moolavar is Blessing as Thamarayal Kelwan and Thayar is being worshipped as Thamarayal Nayagi. Moolavar is blessing in a Standing Posture facing West. Temple Vimanam is worshipped as Narayana Vimanam and theertham is Ganga Theertham and Kadga Pushkarini. 

Srirangam is the First and Foremost among 108 Divyadesams

It is believed that the Emperor Dhasaratha performed a yagna here. Prathyaksham was given to Agasthiyar, Gauthama Muni, Varunan and Bharadwaja Mahirishi. Ursavars are Parthasarathy and Kolavil Raman. The Only Divyadesam where both Moolavar and Utsavar are Blessing with their Cosnorts Sreedvi, Bhoodevi and Neeladevi. Moolavar is considered equal to Parthasarathy of Triplicane Divyadesam, One among the 22 Thondainadu Divyadesams located in Chennai, Mahabalipuran and Kanchipuram. The second Utsavar Kolavilli Raman is Blessing with Gadhai and Arrow in addition to HIS usual Conch and Discus. HE was actually from a a differant temple located nearby. Utsavar Thayar Sathyabama and Rukmini. Arjuna has a sepearate shrine here.

The Legend for the Name - Thiru Parthanpalli

Once Arjuna came down here with a heavy thirst. All around there he was not able to see any water. He saw Agasthiyar was performing penance. He asked Agasthiyar for quenching his thirst. Agasthiyar took his kamandalam to pour water to him. But surprisingly when Agasthiyar was pouring water to Arjuna, when the water touched Arjuna’s hand it became vanished. Arjuna was shocked. By his divine power, Agasthiyar came to know that it was just because of Lord Paranthaman. He said Arjuna that why he had not think about Lord Krishna as he normally does whenever he faces problems. He added that was the reason for the incidence and asked to pray to Lord Krishna. Realised Arjuna begged Lord Krishna for offering him some water. Lord Krishna appeared, gave a sword to Arjuna and asked to stuck the earth so that Ganga Herself will come to satisfy his thirst. Arjuna did so and his thirst got quenched. Since Parthan ( Arjunan ) got blessed by the Almighty the Divaydesam is being worshipped as Thiruparthanpalli. As Ganga herself came as a theertham when Arjuna stuck his sword, theertham is being called as Ganga Thertham and Kadga - Sword Theertham. To bear out this incisence the devotees can see the Almighty is seen with a dagger in His belt. The temple is located about in a distance of 05 KM from Thirunangur.
